Alicia Keys Launches the We Are Here Movement at Mashable's Social Good Summit
Alicia Keys partnered with a dozen international charities and NGOs – including CARE, Oxfam, her own Keep A Child Alive and others – to raise awareness about issues such as HIV/AIDS, girls' education, ending poverty, preventing gun violence and suicide and more. Replete with its own soulful theme song, the We Are Here Movement is about coming together to raise a collective voice against poverty and injustice. "We are joining together to give birth to a movement based on the idea of social ecology - that we're all related and need to work in harmony to create a kinder and better world for all," Keys says. She led a panel discussion before performing the song for the crowd at the 92Y on Manhattan's Upper East Side.
