World Food Day: Sweet Potatoes and Celebrity Chefs

Sustenance Group teamed with the ONE Campaign, the World Food Programme and Oxfam to promote World Food Day on October 16, 2012. In Atlanta, Sustenance Group joined ONE’s Abby Sasser, who hosted a cooking demo with Bravo TV’s Top Chef judge and culinary star Hugh Acheson at the Viking Cooking School. Acheson talked about the importance of nutrition in global health – and shared a delicious sweet potato soup with the audience. Radio personality Mara Davis emceed the event, and Derreck Kayongo (formerly of CARE) and Cherae Robinson (of CIMMYT) were on hand to talk about the importance of the sweet potato as a crop that’s helping alleviate poverty, especially in areas affected by climate change.
